When Taylor Swift announced her full-on transition to pop music with her upcoming album 1989, we didn't even think about the fact that she was leaving country music. (We were just too excited.) But how does Nashville feel about her decision? In a new interview with Billboard, the "Shake It Off" singer says that she actually hasn't experienced that much backlash from the country music industry.

"They know that they're the ones who brought me to the party and they know I am very well aware of that. But I honestly haven't experienced anyone really being upset," she said.

"I think that me being honest and unapologetic about it helps people understand that I'm not trying to fool them."

We've always appreciated how honest Taylor is about her music and her life. You can't get mad at her for that! Even though her style is changing, it just feels like a natural evolution – and she still gives props to the people who helped her out at the start of her career.

Taylor was promoting her new album, 1989, on the late night talk show, but we became a bit more intrigued by her sit down chat with Jimmy Kimmel when she started discussing what a relationship should be like.

During the interview, Jimmy asked Taylor to reveal the meanings behind many of her lyrics. One song in particular, a bonus track, contains the lyrics: “One night, he wakes/ Strange look on his face/ Pauses, then says/ ‘You’re my best friend’/ And you know what is was/ He is in love.”

There’s no doubt that this song is about a real love story. In fact, Taylor admitted that the song is about friend Lena Dunham‘s relationship with Jack Antonoff.

Jimmy joked that because Taylor mentioned “friend” in the song, he assumed that meant it wasn’t a good relationship. “When I hear the word friend, I think that’s it. There’s no love,” he said.

But Taylor laughed and said no way. She believes that you should be friends on top of being in love. That way, “it’s a package deal.”

Taylor recently opened up about why she has security with her at all times.

“Because just the sheer number of men we have in a file who have showed up at my house, showed up at my mom’s house, threatened to either kill me, kidnap me, or marry me. This is the strange and sad part of my life that I try not to think about. I try to be lighthearted about it, because I don’t ever want to be scared. I don’t want to be walking down the street scared. And when I have security, I don’t have to be scared,” Taylor shared to Esquire.

Even with security, though, it can be tough to be in the public eye — imagine not being able to leave your house if you were feeling anything other than cheerful enthusiasm and serious patience.
“I just have to wake up in the morning and say, ‘How am I feeling today?’ If someone asks for a picture, am I gonna feel imposed upon today because I’m dealing with my own stuff? Am I gonna take my own stuff out on some innocent 14-year-old today and be in a bad mood?” the ‘Shake It Off’ singer elaborated. “Okay, maybe not … Maybe I won’t leave the house. I try really hard not to take bad days out on other people. Because I will get asked for an autograph, and I will get asked for a picture, and there will be someone with their cell phone filming me at a restaurant.”
“If I’m not in the mood for that,” she explained, “I just kind of stay in. And that’s fine. Those days don’t happen very often. I try really hard to keep it light. Joy, enthusiasm, excitement—those are sort of my chief attributes.”

Our jaws dropped when we heard that Olly Murs dissed Taylor Swift's new song "Out of the Woods," claiming she writes too much about Harry Styles. Based on her reaction, she felt the same way! While appearing on the Australian radio station 2DAYFM, the singer slammed the critics who blast her for writing about her exes — and it sounds like she was talking directly to Olly.

"You're going to have people who say 'oh you know, she just writes songs about her ex boyfriends'," she said. "I think frankly that’s a very sexist angle to take. No one says that about Ed Sheeran. No one says it about Bruno Mars."

We totally agree! She should be allowed to write about whatever she wants to write about. And apparently, he felt really bad about the diss too, and even sent her a letter to apologize.

"I reached out to Taylor around two days ago. I gave her a letter and said, 'I'm really sorry...It came out wrong. I'm sorry I didn't mean to make any offense'," he told the Daily Mail.

The singer says he just wanted to defend his friend, but the joke came out harsher than it should have.

"It always came out that every article says Taylor writes songs and they always link it to Harry so I was just making a joke and defending my mate."

While it's cute that he cares so much about his friend, he didn't have to bring her down in the process! We're just glad that he apologized for his comments. The "Shake It Off" singer doesn't seem like the type to hold a grudge, so she's probably forgiven him now that he said he's sorry.

The 24-year-old singer debuted the clip on Good Morning America on Monday (October 20) and also released a video of herself talking about the track.

“The first song on 1989 is a song called ‘Welcome to New York’ and I wanted to start the album with this song because New York has been an important landscape and location for the story of my life in the last couple of years,”Taylor said in the clip.

 “You know, I dreamt about moving to New York. I obsessed over moving to New York and then I did it. The inspiration that I found in that city is kind of hard to describe and hard to compare to any other force of inspiration I’ve ever experienced in my life. 

It’s like an electric city and I approached moving there with such wide-eyed optimism and sort of saw it as a place of endless potential and possibilities. You can kind of hear that reflected in this music and in this first song especially. This is a song I did with Ryan Tedder called ‘Welcome to New York.’”

But it turns out, the One Direction singer may have written about their relationship too! According to Perez Hilton, he secretly penned the Alex & Sierra song, "I Love You," about his ex.

The song is about a guy who loves a girl, but only realizes how strong his feelings are after she leaves him.

With lyrics like, "And I know that it sounds so wrong/And you've heard all this before/I didn't come back and I wasn't there/I won't trouble you no more," he seemingly references "I Knew You Were Trouble," which she allegedly wrote about Harry,

Although the songwriting credits for the track are listed as Johan Carlsson and Mick Greenberg, fans have been speculating that Mick is actually Harry's pen name. The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, which helps protect artists' copyrights, lists the same writing credits under both of their names.

Of course, we wouldn't be surprised! The "Steal My Girl" singer previously collaborated with Johan when writing his song for Ariana Grande. Plus, he's secretly written songs for Alex & Sierra before.
